What is Alpha LTE?
This GPS dog tracker attaches to your dog’s collar and uses LTE cellular technology to track their movements, which you can see on your compatible smartphone through the Alpha app1.
You can get up to 18 hours of battery life when using dynamic tracking. If you’re exploring for longer or don’t have access to a charger, simply adjust the device update rate to extend battery life.
Alpha LTE will also display an easy-to-see LED light — with colors including yellow, magenta, cyan, white, green, red or blue — so you can identify your dog even in the dark. This light can help make dogs more visible if they end up near a road.
How does Alpha LTE track your dog?
As long as you have cell service, you can track your dog. There’s no limit to how far away Alpha LTE works within cell service. You could be hiking in Colorado, and your dog could wander to California — if you both are near cell towers, you can still locate your dog.
With improved GPS performance and positioning with multi-GNSS, you’ll know your dog’s precise location, thanks to the multiple satellite systems Garmin accesses for reception in challenging environments.
Plus, when you pair your phone with compatible Garmin dog tracking handhelds and collars, Alpha LTE offers LTE and VHF tracking with smart switching technology, so you get the best available signal. You can extend the battery life even more when using smart switching, reaching up to 75 hours with a 2-minute update rate.
When you’re exploring, quickly check your dog’s location with the easy-to-use Alpha companion app. This app offers a mapping feature that helps you understand the terrain while also viewing your dog’s location and allows you to mark waypoints and locations.
